Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about KDROI and KDROI analysis.

What is KDROI?

KDROI (Keyword Difficulty Return on Investment) is a formula that combines search volume, CPC, and keyword difficulty into a single score: KDROI = (Volume × CPC) / (KD + 1). Higher scores indicate better opportunities.

Is KDROI free to use?

Yes! KDROI is completely free with unlimited keyword analysis. Your data is processed entirely in your browser - we don't upload or store any of your keyword data on our servers.

What file formats are supported?

We support CSV and XLSX (Excel) files. You can export keyword data from Semrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or any other SEO tool that provides keyword data exports.

What columns are required in my CSV file?

Your file must include: Keyword (the search term), Volume (monthly searches), KD (keyword difficulty 0-100), and CPC (cost per click). We auto-detect common column name variations.

Is my data secure?

Absolutely. Your keyword data never leaves your browser. All analysis is performed locally using JavaScript. We don't have servers storing your data - it's all processed client-side and saved to your browser's localStorage.

What is a "Super" opportunity?

Keywords with KDROI ≥ 2000 are classified as "Super" opportunities. These offer the best balance of search volume, commercial value (CPC), and achievable difficulty. They should be your primary targets.

How does the site type judgment work?

Our AI analyzes your keyword to recommend the best site type: Tool Site (for calculator/generator keywords), Content Site (for informational queries), or Hybrid (when both approaches make sense). The judgment is based on keyword patterns, user intent signals, and commercial indicators.

How accurate are the revenue projections?

Revenue projections are estimates based on typical industry benchmarks (AdSense RPM, affiliate conversion rates, etc.). Actual results depend on many factors including content quality, SEO execution, traffic conversion, and market conditions. Use them as rough guidelines, not guarantees.

Can I export my analysis?

Yes! You can export site building plans as PDF documents. Content outlines can be downloaded as Markdown files. The analyze page displays all keywords with KDROI scores that you can review.

What's the difference between KD from Semrush vs Ahrefs?

Different SEO tools calculate keyword difficulty differently, so the same keyword may have different KD scores across tools. KDROI works with any KD score - just be consistent with which tool you use for your analysis.

How do I choose between similar keywords?

Compare their KDROI scores first. If scores are similar, consider: which aligns better with your expertise, which has more long-tail variations, and which fits your site's existing content. The keyword detail page shows competitor analysis to help you decide.

Should I always target the highest KDROI keywords?

Not necessarily. Consider keyword difficulty (KD) too. If you're starting a new site, targeting keywords with KD < 30 helps you rank faster and build domain authority. Mix high-KDROI keywords with achievable ones for a balanced strategy.

How often should I re-analyze my keywords?

Search volumes and competition change over time. Re-upload fresh data from your SEO tool every 3-6 months to catch emerging opportunities and shifting competition levels.

What do the Word Roots mean?

Word roots identify common patterns in keywords (like "calculator", "generator", "how to"). Filtering by word roots helps you find clusters of related keywords, which is useful for planning content silos and internal linking.

Can I use KDROI for non-English keywords?

Yes! The KDROI formula works with any language as long as your CSV includes the required columns. However, the site type judgment and recommendations are optimized for English keywords.
